The Gift of 2023 was Giving Back to Our Community

During 2023, Merivale Vision Care (MVC), Wellington Vision Care (WVC), and Ottawa Vision Therapy (OVT) continued our mission of working hard to grow, learn, and give back as much as we could to our community. Looking back across the year, we are so proud to say we did it. Our team worked incredibly hard to foster family energy in the clinics with many spirit days, staff birthday celebrations, learning seminars, and our annual team holiday celebration where we came together to let our hair down and have some fun after all our hard work. We believe fostering a happy team leads to happy patients and a happy community. We also gave back to those in need in our community all year long through many successful initiatives.

Over the past year we celebrated Heart Month in February to support The Heart Institute and their life-saving health care initiatives. We celebrated International Women’s Day in March in support of Zonta International, an incredible organization that lifts women up right here in our community. In April we partnered with the Canadian Cancer Society in support of their Daffodil Campaign that provides funds for cancer-busting research and support to those experiencing cancer.

During the back-to-school period we donated 350 backpacks filled with school supplies to local youth in need in our community via the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. We celebrated World Sight Day with Optometry Giving Sight. We gave back to Cystic Fibrosis Ottawa and ALS Research.

We also supported the Hintonburg 5K, Kind* Space, the Ottawa Regional Cancer Society, Tembo, Hospice Care Ottawa, and CHEO! Over the holiday period we worked hard to Fill the Foyer with our partner CAPCORP in support of the Ottawa Food Bank. Merivale Vision Care donated $8928 in support of the Ottawa Food Bank, and Wellington Vision Care donated $1580 to the Parkdale Food Center.
