The Future is Here With SPECSY 3D Printed Glasses

The future has arrived at Merivale Vision Care.

Ok, maybe that sounds a bit dramatic.

But if you were to hold the glossy, marble-motif frames that were 3D printed in Toronto
by way of a state of the art digital head and face scan that happened in Ottawa, you
would be excited too.

Let me introduce SPECSY, the company behind these one of a kind glasses that fit in
both style and shape.

SPECSY is a company based in Toronto with roots in 3D printing for the healthcare
industry, and decided to capitalize on today’s culture of customization. Why shouldn’t
the most intimate and important accessory you’ll ever wear be personalized exactly to
your taste and style?

Great question, we thought.

So we decided to give it a go, and here’s how it works:

You come into Merivale Vision Care, we scan your face with our nifty ipad and SPECSY
in-store device, and then you customize your frame shape, colour, and fit with the help of
our wonderful opticians and your own stylistic awesomeness and preferences.

Then the magic happens at SPECSY headquarters in Toronto. Their cutting edge, multi-
colour 3D printers create a foundation that fits your exact specifications and face shape.
That printing process takes about 8 hours, then your custom frames spend three days going through assembly and hand inspection to create a beautiful finished product.

From start to finish, the whole process takes about 4 weeks, and then your glasses are
ready for you to wear and enjoy for years to come! We love that SPECSY is a Canadian
company. Each and every pair of frames has the “Made in Canada” signage.

As a slow fashion blogger, I’m a huge fan of the longevity of these one of a kind frames.
The process which includes hand-finishing is a 21st century combination of modern
technology and meticulous craftsmanship. As they are specifically fit to your face shape and style, you’re more likely to wear them for years to come. This reduces your consumption of trend-based frames.

Finally – Merivale Vision Care is the only Optometry Clinic in Ottawa to offer this super
cool technology! So you’re sure to be the only one you know wearing this type of frame.
And if that isn’t the future of style, then I don’t know what is. Come on in and create your
own personalized pair of frames today!
