Back-Packing Party for the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa

Hot on the trail of our last post, this one comes to you today short and sweet. We wanted to share our time at the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BCGO) this past weekend with you so you could see our back-pack filling party! Volunteers from our team got together over the weekend to assemble the backpacks for all of the wonderful children and youth who will benefit from the funds we raised from our July and August fundraising initiative. During July and August, we donated $10 from the sale of each pair of glasses to the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa. All in all, we raised $10070, which was put toward school supplies for 210 deserving children and youth that participate in programs at the BGCO.

Our friends at Alcon and Bausch and Lomb, two of our contact lens suppliers, also came to help fill the backpacks to the brim. The backpacks included reusable lunch bags, reusable water bottles, and school supplies including paper, pens, markers, crayons, pencils, and everything in between. There were even geometry sets and scientific calculators. Some of our wonderful partners from Transitions and Kate Spade threw in some extra cool swag for the kiddos.

Ottawa resident and fabulous lifestyle blogger Katie Hession of @yowcitystyle was also there pitching in, sharing our fun day of volunteering, and offering support to the BCGO.

One of our dispensers hand wrote a personalized note including words of encouragement to each child receiving a backpack. How amazing!

It was a super-fun day for an awesome cause, and all of these wonderful kids are now set up for success during their school year!
