International Women’s Day 2021
Hello all and welcome back! Celebrating International Women’s Day is hugely important to us here at Merivale Vision Care. If you are a long-standing part of the MVC family, you will know that this day is near and dear to our hearts because we celebrate it every single year. If you are new here (welcome, by the way!) now you know!
We are a women-led business, and we feel it is essential to support women both in business and our community. We highlight International Women’s Day in our office every year by wearing purple, and we have so much fun while we work. The most important way that we celebrate though, is by giving back. On Monday, March 8th we donated $25 from each pair of glasses purchased to the local Zonta Club of Ottawa. We are proud to share that two of our Doctors of Optometry, Dr. Zagury and Dr. North, are active members of the Zonta Club of Ottawa and are amazing driving forces when it comes to advocating and supporting women.
The Zonta Club is an organization whose mission is to empower women through service and advocacy. Zonta works hard to elevate the status of women both locally and internationally, and they have been in the service of doing so for 92 years! Zonta monitors laws and policies and their impact on women, as well as participates in hearings and public meetings with local politicians and administrators to ensure the consideration of women’s interests. Zonta also hosts speakers and panels to raise awareness about issues affecting women at the local level. The Club also recognizes community service and provides bursaries and awards to promising young women in a variety of fields of study.
We are proud to share that both clinics raised $925 to donate to the Zonta Club of Ottawa with your help!
