Giving Back for Back to School: The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa
If you are anything like us here at Merivale Vision Care, you like to plan ahead and strategize for success. With August here now, prepping for back to school has earned a proper spot on everyone’s to do list. Backpacks, check! Binders, check! Lunch box, check! Unfortunately, for some youth in Ottawa, preparing for back to school isn’t as easy as popping out to grab all the necessities. Many local children and youth in vulnerable areas across our community do not have the means to access what they need to set them up for a successful school year. We believe every child, regardless of circumstance, should have the opportunity to succeed in life and have a bright future ahead.
We are so proud to share that this year, just like last year, we will be partnering with The Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BCGO) to help prepare 210 kids in need for a successful 2021-2022 school year. The BCGO provides many children and youth across the city with a safe space and free access to life-changing programs designed to drive personal development. They also provide opportunities to ensure each child has a chance to experience summer camp. Check out the BCGO’s website to read more about their amazing initiatives. With your help, last year we were able to donate $10000 and provide each child with a backpack fully stuffed with everything they need for a successful school year. Backpack, check! Lunch box, check! Every-school-supply-item-you-could-think-of, check! We are so excited to do it all again!
