Happy September!
Hello MVC family, welcome back to the blog! We wanted to wish each and every member of our Merivale Vision Care family a happy September. The temperatures are cooling down, the kids are returning to school, and there is an air of motivation, routine, and productivity in the air. Dare we say that there might even be a little sense of some normalcy finally surfacing in what has been a truly extraordinary time?
Speaking of back to school, at the end of August we wrapped up our initiative to support the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa (BCGO)! We are so proud to share that – with your help – we were able to raise another $10000 (just like last year) to support local children and youth in need with a successful start to the school year. During July and August, $10 from each pair of glasses sold went to support the BCGO directly. A large portion of the proceeds from this initiative allowed us to donate 210 backpacks to 210 children! The backpacks were fully loaded with all the school supplies each child would need for a successful start to the school year. You can read all about what we put in the backpacks here. The balance of the proceeds was donated directly to the BCGO to support all they do. If you purchased your glasses with us during either July or August then thank you!! You helped support these local children and youth.
When one initiative wraps up with us here at MVC, another begins. We are very excited to share that for the whole month of September we will be supporting the Tint the Town Teal campaign in support of Bruyère. Bruyère is a multi-site academic health care organization that helps people stay and return home while maximizing their quality of life. They deliver a wide variety of services in ageing and rehabilitation, medically complex situations, palliative, residential and primary care. Stay tuned for next week where we share just how amazing Bruyère is, all they do for the community, and more details about Tint the Town Teal campaign. $4 from every eye exam in September will go directly to support Bruyère!
