Let’s Tint the Town Teal!!
There is no question that the global pandemic has had significant impacts far and wide, both locally and globally. At Merivale Vision Care, we believe it is super important to support members of our community in times need of need. Here in Ottawa, Bruyère has been deeply affected by COVID-19, so naturally, we want to help! We are very excited to share that for the whole month of September we will be supporting the Tint the Town Teal campaign in support of Bruyère!
Bruyère is a multi-site academic health care organization that helps people stay and return home while maximizing their quality of life. They deliver a wide variety of services in ageing and rehabilitation, medically complex situations, palliative, residential, and primary care. Bruyère provides high-quality hospital, residential, and community health services to meet the diverse health care needs of the community. Not only that, but Bruyère also has its own Foundation to secure the resources needed to achieve its mission, as well as conducts research and teaching to transform care in our community for the better.
Founded by Mother Elizabeth Bruyère in 1845, Bruyère has achieved so many things to help the community of then Bytown, now Ottawa. Run by a group of kind-hearted Sisters of the church, they offered health care to local townspeople and Irish immigrants fleeing disease and famine. They also opened a bilingual school, a hospital, a home for the aged, an orphanage and a home for abandoned children. September is Bruyère Month, a month dedicated to sharing how care and research at Bruyère are helping people manage chronic illness, regain function and regain independence following serious illness or injury. The Tint the Town Teal initiative will showcase the commitment of Bruyere’s teams and share an inside look at current research working to support patient care both locally and across the country.
When you’re here visiting your doctor of Optometry you will notice that we have Tinted our whole office Teal! $4 from every eye exam during September will go directly to support Bruyère, so please book your appointment to look after the health of your eyes while supporting an amazing cause at the same time. We are looking forward “teal” the time we can help you see your best!
