We are so proud to share that we are celebrating Pride Month all through June! $4 from every eye exam during the month of June will go toward Kind Space and their supportive, inclusive work for the 2SLGBTQ+ community in Ottawa. Please join us in supporting Kind Space by scheduling your eye exam during June. Your eyes and the community will thank you!
Gays of Ottawa (GO) was born after the ‘We Demand’ demonstration on Parliament Hill in 1971. 13 years later, GO started a new organization that would be eligible to receive charitable status to take on social and health programming. On March 29 in 1984 Pink Triangle Services (PTS), became the first Canadian 2SLGBTQ+ organization to receive charitable status. Then in 2015 PTS rebranded to Kind Space with a radical re-visioning of community engagement and participation, values and commitments, and collaborative partnerships.
Kind Space is committed to providing Ottawa with accessible resources, events, social, and educational programming to celebrate and support people of all sexual orientations, gender identities and expressions. Kind Space gives people a place to be themselves without pressure, expectations, or demands and offer personal and peer support to understand and inhabit their individual identities with confidence and courage. They offer a range of information and resources that people can use to help themselves or others appreciate and be who they truly are. Kind Space not only supports people locally but those who are far away by empowering people through social media and online forums. Check out their website to see how you can visit Kind Space, become a volunteer, or donate to them directly. Kind Space is so right when they say that we all thrive when we’re surrounded by love and support.
We celebrate and encourage diversity during Pride Month and every day of the year! Come in to see us for your eye exam and support Kind Space while taking care of your ocular health.
