Did you know that Merivale Vision Care (MVC) and Wellington Vision Care (WVC) are women-owned and led local small businesses, and our teams are passionate about supporting women in our community? Friday March 8th is International Women’s Day, but we are celebrating all week! From March 4th to March 8th, we will be donating $10 for every pair of glasses sold to the Zonta Club of Ottawa as well as showcasing our all-women Director group, the amazing ladies who lead us to deliver incredible eye care to you.

The Zonta Club is an organization whose mission is to empower women through service and advocacy. Zonta monitors law and policy impact on women and participates in hearings and public meetings with local politicians and administrators to ensure the consideration of women’s interests. They also host speakers and panels to raise awareness about issues affecting women at the local level. Zonta recognizes community service and provides bursaries to promising young women in a variety of educational fields. We cannot think of a better club to support in honour of International Women’s Day. Now, let’s meet the Directors!

Happy International Womens Day with Dr Joelle Zagury, Kari and Antoinette

First up, Dr. Joelle Zagury, clinic owner and Medical Director at both MVC and WVC. Leading alongside women has been a lifelong dream for her, and she is incredibly passionate about helping her patients see their best and look awesome at the same time. Dr. Zagury loves going to concerts and exploring new cities when she has some downtime from eye care.

At the helm alongside Dr. Zagury is Kari, the Director of Optical Strategy at both MVC and WVC. She is also the managing partner at WVC. Kari has worked at MVC for 16 years and at WVC since it opened in 2019. Kari loves shopping and her superpower is helping people find their perfect frames and sunglasses.

Up next is the Director of Optical Operations and Innovation at MVC:  Antoinette. Aside from her family, her other passions are music, fashion, and travel. Antoinette balances life with a teen athlete and helping patients see better and look better. 25 years of optical industry experience helps her to pioneer patient-centric optical innovations.

Switching over to the administrative side, meet Sarah, the Director of Clinic Operations and Digital Infrastructure. Sarah has worked at Merivale Vision Care for 13 years and is a master at keeping the team organized and goal oriented. She is a mom of two teenagers and is an online gamer in her off time.

Last, but certainly not least, is Tiffany, the Director of Human Resources and Patient Communication at MVC. Tiffany is a busy mom of three. At the clinic she makes sure we have the best team in place to serve our patients, and that the MVC team is well-cared for. When Tiffany is not working, she is outdoors and hiking on her favourite trails in Ottawa.

Come in this week to celebrate International Women’s Day with us, and wear purple! You’ll see your best, support local women and all the incredible work that the Zonta Club of Ottawa does for our community.

Bringing sight to life.
